Who we are
We started with a dream
The idea was born at the Politecnico di Milano, in the 'Sintesi Finale' laboratory. Ewoud Westerduin, a young Dutch designer, presents the project to his professor, with the aim of creating the best protection for urban pollution .
Ewoud and Venanzio Arquilla, Professor at the Politecnico, believe in the project. The result is the incubation of the idea in PoliHub as part of the 2018 edition of Switch to Product, the program that enhances innovative solutions and ideas. The project represents an ideal example of the Third Mission of the Politecnico of Milan.
Narvalo is officially a Spin-off of the Politecnico di Milano Universityand, since 2020, also an innovative start-up. The team begins to expand to meet the challenges!
Narvalo launches the first campaign on Kickstarter , thanks to which it intercepts a community of Urban Commuters. With the funds raised, he launched the first production of products, however slowed down by the pandemic situation in 2020.
Despite the various obstacles linked to the lack of electronic components and raw materials, the Narvalo Active Mask is finally produced thanks to close collaboration with our network of made in Italy partners and the help of the BLS group
The product receives two great awards for the world of design: the Red Dot Award Product Design 2021 and ADI Design Index 2021 selection.
Thanks to the partnership with BLS, a leading Milanese company producing PPE for respiratory protection, Narvalo obtains the certification of its products, certified and patented as personal protective equipment.

We are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment thanks to a production chain and a network of suppliers located almost exclusively in Italy. Our products are also designed with the logic of reuse and durability.

We are proud to collaborate with local communities to promote sustainable development through social, cultural and educational initiatives. A key partner is the Cooperativa Lo Specchio, with whom we have collaborated since the beginning of our business.
Workers' well-being
Health and safety in the workplace are some of the points we care about most. We have undertaken a collaboration with Urban Bike Messengers to promote total protection for riders during work.
Other areas of application
Medical
In collaboration with universities and research centers, such as the Biomedical Campus of Rome, we are developing projects to support patients in respiratory rehabilitation.
Sport
We work with CONI to support competitive and amateur athletes in monitoring and improving their performances.
Research
Our R&D center develops research projects based on trends and new market opportunities identified in collaboration with universities, such as the University of Milan.
