How it started

Narvalo was born as a project of the Design School of the Politecnico di Milano, created by the young Dutch-borndesigner, Ewoud Westerduin. His thesis supervisor and Professor of theDepartment of Design, Venanzio Arquilla, recognised the potential of the project and continued to support Ewoud in further development from September 2018 onwards.

Later the idea was incubated by POLIHUB, as part of the Switch to Product initiative. The program enhances innovative solutions, new technologies, and business ideas proposed by students, researchers and professors of the Politecnico di Milano.
The project navigates through the Innovation System at the Politecnico di Milano, and is selected as a "talent in residence" in POLIFACTORY , the Maker Space and Fablab of the Politecnico di Milano. Here the first prototypes are made.
The project embodies the Third Mission of the Politecnico di Milano , which aims to promote the social, economic and cultural development of its reference area: Bovisa.

The aspects of air filtration and respiratory protection are in fact developed together with BLS, a Milanese boutique company , also founded in Bovisa . Manufacturer specializing in the design and production of respiratory protective masks and devices.
