How it started

Narvalo starts out in the classrooms of the School of Design at the Politecnico di Milano. Originating from an idea of the young Dutch designer Ewoud Westerduin, to recognize the potential of the project is Venanzio Arquilla - Professor of the Department of Design and his thesis supervisor - who helps him develop it further. We are in September 2018.

The idea gathered interest and is incubated in Polihub, as part of the Switch to Product competition. This program enhances innovative solutions, new technologies and business ideas proposed by students, researchers and teachers of the Politecnico di Milano. At this point in time, the project is ready to face the open sea.
The project navigates through the Innovation System at the Politecnico di Milano, and is selected as a "talent in residence" in POLIFACTORY , the Maker Space and Fablab of the Politecnico di Milano. Here the first prototypes are made.
The project embodies the Third Mission of the Politecnico di Milano , which aims to promote the social, economic and cultural development of its reference area: Bovisa.

The aspects of air filtration and respiratory protection are in fact developed together with BLS, a Milanese boutique company , also founded in Bovisa . Manufacturer specializing in the design and production of respiratory protective masks and devices.
